Mammoet Strand Jack Lifting System
The muscle power come from the Mammoet-designed lifting jacks, a technique that the company has previously used. The strand lifting jacks mimic an individual pulling in a rope hand-over-hand. Each jack has a 54-strand cable bundle, and each strand consists of seven twisted, high-capacity steel wires. The 54 strands are being fed through top and bottom anchor heads that open or close to release or grip the cable bundle. The jacks are individually controlled by two linked computers that equalize the load among them and ensure that each cylinder has the same stroke when loaded, regardless of differences in oil flow and load.
